Abstract
Introduction: The aim of the present study was to investigate the mediating role of self-compassion in predicting psychological well-being based on Islamic lifestyle in teachers of special schools.
Materials and methods: The research method was descriptive-correlational, using structural equation modeling. The statistical population in this study consisted of all teachers of special schools in Kerman city in the academic year 2023-2024. Using convenience sampling, 264 people were randomly selected. Then, questionnaires were provided to these teachers, and they were completed and collected. The measurement tools in the study were the Islamic Lifestyle Questionnaire (ILTS, Kaviani, 2009), the Self-Compassion Questionnaire (SCS, Neff, 2003), and the Responsive Psychological Well-Being Questionnaire (RSPWB, Riff, 1989). The obtained data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and structural equation modeling.
Results: The findings showed that the research model had a good fit. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between Islamic lifestyle and self-compassion with psychological well-being (P<0.01). It was also found that self-compassion has a mediating role in the relationship between Islamic lifestyle and psychological well-being (P<0.01).
Conclution: Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the tendency towards an Islamic lifestyle plays an important role in improving psychological well-being by increasing self-compassion
