Investigating the relationship between the feeling of freedom in virtual social networks and emotional relationships on the Internet with mental health based on the teachings of Islam in students

Abstract
Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the feeling of freedom in virtual social networks and Internet emotional relationships with with mental health based on the teachings of Islam in students.

Materials and methods: The research method of the present study was descriptive-correlation. The statistical population of the research includes all the students of Allameh Tabataba'i University, of which 150 people were selected as a sample using available sampling method. The data collection tools included the questionnaire of feeling of freedom in the virtual social networks of Karvani (2013), Internet emotional relationships Barghi (2014) and mental health based on the teachings of Islam Abol-Maali and Musazadeh (2016).

Findings: The data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and Regression. The research findings showed that there is no relationship between emotional freedom in virtual social networks and mental health (p>0.001). There is a significant negative relationship between Internet emotional relationships with mental health and its components (p<0.001). Iternet emotional relationships predict 0.28 students' mental health based on Islamic teachings.

Conclusion: Based on the results, it can be said that training courses for teaching healthy communication skills and dealing with tensions in these relationships, as well as time management skills, should be held for students.
