Abstract
Aims: Happiness and life expectancy are important to the mental health of community members. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of religious-based cognitive-behavioral group therapy on increasing life expectancy and happiness in infertile women.
Materials and Methods: This study is an applied research in terms of purpose and is a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test with the control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of all infertile women in Lahijan city who referred to infertility centers in 2018. 30 infertile women were selected through convenience sampling method according to the research method, based on the selection criteria and were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The experimental group received cognitive-behavioral religious-based training during 10 sessions of 60 minutes once a week, but the control group did not receive any training. Data were collected using the Munsch Happiness Scale and Miller Hope Scale. SPSS 22 software and descriptive and inferential statistics indices were used for data analysis. Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to test the main hypothesis of the study.
Findings: There was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the dependent variables of life expectancy (F=15/74, P<0.001) and happiness (F=14/36 and P<0.001), so that the life expectancy and happiness of the experimental group were significantly improved compared to the control group.
Conclusion: Religious-based cognitive-behavioral group therapy is an effective way to increase life expectancy and happiness in infertile women.
