Abstract
Aims: Today application of new communication technologies have become increasingly popular among adolescents, which has the risks in addition to the benefits. One of these risks is newfound social harms that include the harms associated with the new technology. The aim of this study was to determine the role of Islamic lifestyle in reducing newfound social harms from the perspective of managers and teachers of primary schools in district 1 of education department of Tabriz. Instruments & Methods: This descriptive-correlational research was carried out among 335 teachers and 135 head masters of primary schools of district 1 of Tabriz education department in 2018-2019. The subjects were selected using relative random sampling. The Kaviani questionnaire and a researcher-made questionnaire were used to measure the Islamic lifestyle and dimensions of the newfound social harms, respectively. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21 software through Pearson correlation and multivariate regression tests. Findings: There was a significant correlation between the Islamic lifestyle and components of the use of new communication and information technologies (r=-0.204; p=0.001) with suicide due to computer games (r=-0.150; p=0.001). There were no significant correlations between the Islamic lifestyle and components of social deviations and risky behaviors (p>0.05). The Islamic lifestyle generally predicted 0.7% of newfound social harms. Conclusion: Based on the perspectives of teachers and head masters of primary school in district 1 of Tabriz, the Islamic lifestyle reduces newfound social harms.
