Today, we are witnessing the expansion and prosperity of many sciences and knowledge that in the not so distant past, these sciences did not exist as a scientific discipline. Some of this knowledge is imported and has Western origins. Among these sciences is the philosophy of religion. Philosophy of religion is a new science that has entered the Islamic world almost without any shortcomings and based on the prevailing culture of the Western world and Christian theology. The flawed and ill-fated introduction of this knowledge has led to the fact that, years later, when a definition of the philosophy of religion is presented in the Islamic world, it is still a transcript of its Western nature. Therefore, in the present article, an attempt has been made to critique the common definitions of the philosophy of religion, especially from the perspective of Iranian philosophers of religion, who observe the status of "being and realization". In the following, while presenting Mukhtar's definition, which refers to the philosophy of religion in the position of "definition and must", the difference between the philosophy of religion and homogeneous sciences and sciences, such as theology, philosophy of religious knowledge, etc. has been compared.
