Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a relationship model between emotional intelligence and leadership style of managers with organizational commitment of employees in municipalities.
Materials and Methods: The statistical population of the present study is the senior managers and employees of the country's municipalities. In the present study, Tehran municipalities as the largest city in the country and Bushehr municipality as one of the small and medium cities in the country were considered as the community Bushehr and also the central headquarters of the municipalities of these two cities, 400 people were selected as a sample, in addition, 80 people were selected from the managers of the mentioned municipalities in the sample. Sampling was performed by stratified random sampling method. The method of the present research is applied and developmental in terms of purpose, a survey method in terms of data collection and a descriptive-explanatory method in terms of analysis. In this study, Siberia Schering Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, Bass and Olive Multi-Factor Leadership Questionnaire and Allen and Meyer Organizational Commitment Questionnaire were used to collect data. Pearson correlation coefficient, one-sample t-test, factor analysis, one-way analysis of variance, LSD, path analysis using Amos graphic software version 21 and SPSS 21 were used to analyze the data.
Findings: The results of this study showed that firstly, the dominant leadership style in the municipalities under study is pragmatic leadership style and secondly, the emotional intelligence of managers is high. On the other hand, pragmatic leadership style has a significant relationship with employees 'organizational commitment, while there is no significant relationship between transformational and non-specific leadership style with employees' organizational commitment.
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between managers 'emotional intelligence and employees' organizational commitment. On the other hand, there is a positive and significant relationship between transformational leadership style and emotional intelligence, while there is no significant relationship between pragmatic leadership style and emotional intelligence.
