Introduction: Empathy is one of the important emotional abilities that begins with signs and symptoms from early childhood and plays an essential role in social life. The present descriptive-analytic study was carried out by reviewing the Holy Quran text and authentic Shia sources of hadiths, various books, and articles from Islamic scholars and contemporary scientists and psychologists to express the concept of empathy in Islam and psychology, as well as to explain the common and different components of empathy in the perspective of psychology and islamic foundations. The aim of this study was to compare the empathy from the perspective of psychology and Islamic foundations. Conclusion: In Islamic foundations, good deeds, cooperation, collaboration, justice, and fairness are emphasized, which has the closest meaning to the concept of empathy from the psychological point of view of. In psychology, empathy is meant as the ability to understand the causes of the reactions of others in different situations, which enhances social relationships and leads to positive relationships with others. In Islamic foundations, cooperation, communication, and good deeds are close to concept of empathy. Islamic psychology is the field of exploration, the rational-experimental efforts in the light of the guidance and enlightenment of the pure teachings of the divine, in order to identify the psychological clear and hidden facts and phenomena. In the ways of development of empathy from the perspective of psychology and islamic foundations, there are common components, and in different areas there are different ways in the development of empathy. In the light of Islamic teachings, we can achieve more growth and flourishing in this field.
