The Effect of Metacognitive Beliefs and Psychological Coherence on Depression in Cardiovascular Patients

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to determine the
impact of metacognitive beliefs and psychological
coherence on depression in cardiovascular patients.
Materials and Methods: The statistical population of
this research includes all cardiovascular patients in
Tehran who visited medical centers in 1401. The number
of sample members was considered to be 150, which were
selected using available sampling method. The
measurement tools in this research were CartwrightHoughton and Wells (1997) metacognitive beliefs
questionnaires, Antonsky's psychological coherence
(1987) and Beck's depression questionnaires, which had
acceptable validity and reliability. In order to analyze the
data, inferential statistics of Pearson's correlation
coefficient and step-by-step multiple regression were
used using SPSS-23 software.
Findings: The results showed that metacognitive beliefs
have a significant effect on the depression of
cardiovascular patients; Also, psychological coherence
has a negative and significant effect on depression in
cardiovascular patients.
Conclusion: Also, the results of statistical analysis
indicated that metacognitive beliefs and psychological
coherence can predict depression in cardiovascular
patients.
