The Effect of Group Training of Marital Skills with Islamic Approach on Marital Satisfaction and Quality of Life of Tehran Married People

Abstract
Purpose: This study investigates the effect of group
training of Islamic marital skills on marital satisfaction
and quality of life of married people.
Materials and Methods: The method of this quasiexperimental study is pre-test and post-test without
control group. The sample of this study is 28 women and
8 men from couples who referred to Sarai Mahalla in
District 5 of Tehran in 2015. The dependent variable of
this study is marital satisfaction and quality of life, which
has been evaluated with the Enrich Marital Satisfaction
Questionnaire and the World Health Organization
Quality of Life Questionnaire - short form. The
independent variable is Islamic marital skills that are
organized and taught in 12 sessions based on Islamic and
Quranic teachings. Data were analyzed using SPSS
software.
Findings: The results showed that Islamic teachings have
a positive effect on marital satisfaction and quality of life
and increase satisfaction and quality of life (P≤0.001).
Conclusion: It is suggested that by preparing a localized
Islamic questionnaire of marital satisfaction, these
trainings be implemented in different religious and nonreligious groups and its effect on marital satisfaction be
measured.
