Abstract
Purpose: The present study was conducted with the aim of
investigating the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy
based on the adaptive cat model on the emotional and
academic emotions of adolescent girls with clinical symptoms
of post-traumatic stress.
Materials and methods: The research method was semiexperimental with a pre-test-post-test design with a control
group, and the statistical population was all girls in the first
year of high school in Zahedan city in 2021, who have
counseling files related to post-traumatic stress caused by the
death of one of them in the counseling centers. were firstdegree relatives due to Corona, and among them, 20 people
were selected by purposeful sampling and after the pre-test,
they were randomly replaced in two experimental groups and
one control group. Subjects of experimental groups received
adaptive cat cognitive behavioral therapy during 16 sessions
of 90 minutes based on the cognitive therapy package based
on Kendall and Hatke's adaptive cat model (2018) by the
researcher, and the control group did not receive any
treatment. The data collection tool was Pakran et al.'s (2002)
academic emotions questionnaire, Watson, Clark and Telgen's
(1988) positive and negative affect questionnaire. Data
analysis was also done using single and multivariate
covariance statistical methods.
Findings: The findings showed that cognitive behavioral
therapy based on the adaptive cat model was effective on the
academic excitement and emotion of teenage girls with
clinical symptoms of post-traumatic stress (caused by the
death of a family member due to Corona).
Conclusion: Negative emotions are the result of some
cognitive distortions, and these cognitive distortions maintain
ineffective thinking. Like overgeneralization, a person makes
a general rule from a specific event and applies it
inappropriately to other situations.
