Abstract
Purpose: Emotional divorce as a social harm is the first step
in the divorce process and indicates the severity of marital
conflicts stemming from numerous factors such as the
malfunction of couples' communication patterns. so; The
present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of
Bowen's family-centered approach on improving
communication patterns and marital conflicts in women with
emotional divorce.
Materials and Methods: A quasi-experimental study was a
pretest-posttest with a control group. The statistical population
was all women with marital conflict who referred to the
Central Welfare Organization of Isfahan in the first quarter of
2020. After screening, 30 subjects with emotional divorce
were selected by simple random sampling and assigned to
experimental and control groups. The research tool was the
scale of communication patterns and marital conflicts. The
subjects in the experimental groups participated in the Bowen
family therapy training program, but the control group did not
receive any training. Finally, the data were analyzed using
SPSS software at two levels of descriptive statistics (mean and
standard deviation) and inferential statistics (analysis of
covariance and analysis of variance of repeated measures
multivariate).
Findings: The results showed that Bowen's therapeutic
approach led to a significant difference in the mean post-test
scores of the experimental group in both variables of marital
conflict and communication patterns.
Conclusion: Bowen's therapeutic approach can be useful in
reducing the rate of marital conflict and improving the
communication pattern of women with emotional divorce, and
consequently, reduce emotional divorce and increase marital
adjustment.
