Abstract
Introduction: The meaning of life is always emphasized in religious approaches and can play an important role in married life. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of meaning therapy based on Islamic-Iranian values on marital conflicts and religious orientation of couples.
Methods: This research was conducted by quasi-experimental method with pre-test-post-test design with control group and follow-up stage. The statistical population of the study included all couples who referred to Kerman Counseling Center who due to marital conflicts based on psychological interview and marital conflict questionnaire who referred to this center and 30 of them by sample method Available samples were selected for inclusion in the study and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group underwent semantic therapy training based on Islamic-Iranian values during 12 sessions of 60 minutes. Data were collected in pre-test, post-test and follow-up stages using marital conflict and religious orientation questionnaires and analyzed by repeated measures analysis of covariance.
Results: The results showed that semantic therapy training based on Islamic-Iranian values has reduced marital conflicts with an ETA coefficient of 0.42 and increased religious orientation with an ETA coefficient of 0.34. 
Conclusion: Considering the effectiveness of meaning therapy based on Islamic-Iranian, this treatment should be prioritized.
