The Effectiveness of Group Meaning Therapy Based on Quranic Teachings on Life Expectancy in Women with Breast Cancer

Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group meaning therapy based on Quranic teachings on life expectancy in women with breast cancer.
Materials and Methods: The present research method was quasi-experimental and pre-test-post-test designs. The statistical population of the present study included all 400 women with breast cancer in Tehran in 2017-17. Available sampling method was used and from women with breast cancer in the age range of 30 to 50 years who referred to the chemotherapy department of a hospital in Tehran, 30 people were selected and divided into two experimental and control groups and 15 people in each group based on inclusion criteria. And were selected to exit the study. Individuals in the experimental group underwent group therapy based on Qur'anic teachings during 8 1-hour sessions twice a week. The research tools included Schneider et als (1991) life expectancy questionnaire.
Findings: The results of this study showed that group meaning therapy based on Quranic teachings is effective in increasing life expectancy (P <0.01).
Conclusion: According to the findings of the study, it can be concluded that to increase the life expectancy of women with breast cancer can be used group meaning therapy based on Quranic teachings.
