Abstract
Purpose: Paying attention to how to train human resources to
administer and perform health-therapeutic services is of particular
importance. Career expectations and attitudes that students have
about their future careers should be properly known, because career
expectations and its role in creating employment and thus economic
growth cannot be ignored. For this purpose, it is necessary to have
information about the current situation and students' attitudes. Based
on this, this study was conducted with the aim of determining the
degree of satisfaction of medical librarianship and informatics
students of the country's medical sciences universities with their
field of study and their views on their field of study and their future
careers.

students of universities of medical sciences offering this field in the
undergraduate and postgraduate levels, which include universities
of medical sciences in Isfahan, Ahvaz, Bushehr, Tehran, Tabriz,
Shahid Beheshti, Kerman, Iran, and Hamadan were conducted. The
sample size for this study was estimated to be 148 people. The data
collection tool in this study was a questionnaire consisting of two
parts. The first part included the demographic characteristics of the
students, the second part included 8 questions to measure
satisfaction, 9 questions to examine the students' point of view about
the field of study, and 4 questions to measure their point of view
regarding the future of employment. Questionnaire questions were
scored on a five-point Likert scale from very high (5 points) to very
low (1 point). Finally, the obtained information was analyzed by
descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, average) and analytical
tests (independent t and chi-square) using SPSS software version 26
at a significance level of 0.05.
Findings: The overall satisfaction of students in the study field of
medical librarianship and information was reported as 44.51%. The
way of teaching practical and theory courses, personal and
personality characteristics of the professors and their academic level
from the point of view of average students were mentioned. The
most important factor that creates a positive attitude of students
towards the field of study was the possibility of serving people and
society.
Conclusion: increasing educational facilities and equipment,
improving their knowledge about this field and creating conditions
to increase job opportunities in order to increase the level of
satisfaction and interest in continuing education, as well as proper
curriculum planning in this field will be effective.
