Comparing the Effectiveness of Group Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Compassion-based Therapy on Social Isolation of Divorced Women

Abstract
Purpose: The present study was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of group dialectical behavior therapy and compassion-based therapy on social isolation of divorced women.
Materials and Methods: This research was applied in terms of purpose and based on the method of data collection, it was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test or control group design. The statistical population included all divorced women who referred to counseling centers in the second district of Tehran in 2013-2014, and from three counseling centers voluntarily and available, 45 people were selected as a statistical sample, and 15 people were randomly assigned In the first experimental group of group dialectical behavior therapy, 15 people were in the second experimental group of compassion-based therapy and 15 people were in the control group. The data collection tools were 10 sessions of group dialectical behavior therapy, 8 sessions of compassion-based therapy and Russell's Social Isolation Questionnaire (UCLA). Also, analysis of covariance and SPSS 24 software were used for data analysis.
Findings: The results of the research showed that both compassion-based therapy and group dialectical therapy had a significant effect on the variable of social isolation of divorced women. Of course, compassion-based therapy has been better and more effective than group dialectical behavior therapy in reducing social isolation.
Conclusion: As a result, compassion-based therapy and dialectical therapy can be considered effective methods to reduce the social isolation of divorced women.
