The Effectiveness of Parents' Communication Skills Training on High-Risk Behaviors of First-Year Students in Borujerd City

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of parents' communication skills training on the high-risk behaviors of first year students in Borujerd city.
Materials and methods: The current research is of an applied type and in terms of the method used, it is a semi-experimental type of research with a pre-test-post-test and follow-up design with a control group. The statistical population of the present study will include all parents with teenagers aged 13 to 18 years in the 1th district of Borujerd in 2019. The sampling method will be voluntary and accessible. For this purpose, 45 parents and their children, who have the conditions to participate in parent communication skills training sessions, were randomly selected in three groups: experiment 1 (15 people), experiment 2 (15 people) and control. (15 people) were replaced. In order to collect data, Iranian adolescents' risk-taking scale by Zadeh Mohammadi et al. (2013) and communication skills training protocol were used. Two methods of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics of SPSS-24 software were used to analyze the obtained data.
Findings: The results showed that teaching communication skills is effective in reducing high-risk behaviors of male students.
Conclusion: Factors resulting from experiencing risky behaviors such as experiencing at least one tendency to risky behaviors even if it is for fun and entertainment. Researchers and planners recommend that in addition to taking care of all children and adolescents and teaching communication skills to adolescents who are at risk to pay more attention.
