Purpose: Rent-seeking and administrative corruption are phenomena that can be seen in our country both in the public sector and in the private sector.
Materials and methods: In this article, the impact of the weak monitoring system on rent-seeking through the mediation of lack of transparency of information in the administration of Mazandaran province is investigated. In this research, a survey method and a researcher-made questionnaire were used. The statistical population of this research consists of the middle managers of the general administration of Mazandaran province. To determine the sample size, Krejci and Morgan's table was used. Based on this, the sample size was estimated to be 378 people and the questionnaires were distributed in the sample population based on the random sampling method. SPSS and Lisrel statistical analysis software were used for data analysis.
Findings: The obtained results show that the weakness of the monitoring system and the lack of transparency of information have a significant effect on rent-seeking in Mazandaran offices. The results of the compiled model to explain the changes in the amount of rent-seeking in the offices of Mazandaran province show the significant impact of the external variable of lack of information transparency and the internal variable of the weakness of the supervisory system on rent-seeking.
Conclusion: In general, the results of the research show that with the increase in the lack of transparency of information, the supervisory system becomes weak as a mediating variable, and in this situation, rent-seeking can be expected to increase in the society.
