Abstract
Purpose: Several factors play a role in the attitude towards having children and the satisfaction of couples, so the present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of spiritual vitality in marital satisfaction and attitude towards having children in couples. Materials and Methods: The research method was descriptive-correlation. The research population included all newly married couples who referred to counseling centers in the west of Tehran in 2022, and 150 people were selected as a sample after checking the criteria for entering and exiting the study with the purposeful sampling method; And they answered the questionnaires of Chirian and Afrooz's spiritual vitality (2015), Favers and Elson's (1993) marital satisfaction, and Soderberg et al.'s (2013) attitude towards fertility and childbearing. The data of this research were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression methods and with the help of SPSS version 22 statistical software. Result: The results showed that there was a positive and significant correlation between spiritual vitality and couples' satisfaction (r=0.58) and attitude towards having children (r=0.59) and spiritual vitality accounted for 34% of the variance of marital satisfaction and 37% of the variance. It predicts the attitude towards having children. Conclusion: The results of the research require the importance and attention of those involved in the field of demography and health to the role of spiritual vitality in marital satisfaction and childbearing attitude.
