Abstract
Objective: Due to the digitalization of communication, changes have been made in the lifestyle of people in the society, it is very important to pay attention to the mental health and lifestyle of medical students as supporters of the future health of an Islamic society. The use of social networks has led to the transformation of activities, interactions, spirituality in the life and gathering of daily information of students, so the present research has investigated the impact of digital well-being on the mental health and Islamic lifestyle of medical students.
Materials and methods: The present research is in terms of purpose, application, field research in terms of monitoring and control, and descriptive research in terms of data collection. The statistical population in this research includes all medical students of Zabul University in the second semester of the academic year 2021-2022, and their number is 1769 people. The sample size is 316 people with the help of Karjesi and Morgan table by random sampling method. There is a class according to gender, and the size of each class (200 women and 116 men) was considered. The data collection tool was Goldberg's mental health questionnaire, the standard questionnaire for the use of virtual social networks by Khaja Ahmadi et al. The method of data analysis was done by using frequency, variance, standard deviation tables, and t-test was used in the inferential part.
Findings: The results showed that digital well-being has an effect on physical symptoms and general condition, social functioning, depression, and Islamic lifestyle of medical students (p≤0.05). Also, digital well-being does not have an effect on anxiety of medical students at Zabol University (p≥0.05).
Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, it is necessary to promote mental health resilience and address related issues should be a priority in public health policies for medical students.
