Abstract
Background and Objective: The extramarital relationship is a threat to personal and family health. The present study, with a qualitative approach, explains the understanding and experience of married women involved in extramarital affairs, and finally some verses and narrations related to the findings of the study are given.
Methods: This qualitative study was performed with conventional content analysis approach. Targeted sampling was performed with a maximum variety of 15 married women with experience in extramarital relationship throu semi-structured interviews. As data was collected, data analysis continued under the management of MAXQDA software version 10. As the interviews progressed, the main patterns and meanings of the interviews became clear, and subcategories and categories were formed. The study findings were then analyzed according to the verses and related hadiths.
Results: The findings of this study showed that most women involved in extramarital relationship had problems with marital conflict with their spouses and entered into this relationship to saturate their psychological emptiness. The deaths of values and emotional dichotomies, and the destructive effect of these relationships on individual and family health, were reflected in their explanation. Finally, related verses and hadiths were given for the subcategories: husband's immorality, sexual incompatibilities, feelings of shame and guilt and also secret friendships and adultery.
Conclusion: extramarital relationships threat to the health of individuals, families and thus society. Therefore, the need for life skills counseling and strengthening marital relationships is becoming more apparent. As well as informing the couple about the divine commands and Islamic teachings, certainly will be effective in changing the attitude to extramarital relationships.
