The Effectiveness of Transactional Analysis Training on Marital Adjustment of Married People Referring to Tehran Counseling Centers

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to transactional
analysis training on marital satisfaction and referral to
counseling centers in Tehran.
Materials and Methods: The research is a quasi-experimental
and pre-test-post-test with control group. The statistical
population of all married individuals had family conflicts and
marital adjustment problems referring to the psychiatric
services centers of Tehran. A sample of 40 eligible individuals
who were referred to a counseling center with adaptive
problems were selected and were randomly divided into two
experimental groups (20 and control group, 20). First, all
participants completed the DAS (Dual Compatibility
Questionnaire). Participants in the experimental groups were
treated for 12 sessions, but the control group did not receive
any training. After completing the educational program, both
groups were subjected to post-test. The research findings were
analyzed using SPSS 24 software and descriptive by statistical
method covariance analysis.
Findings: The results showed of covariance analysis that
transactional analysis training has been effective in increasing
marital adjustment.
Conclusion: Therefore, according to the results of the study,
the application of mutual behavior analysis in couples would
result in more marital adjustment and improvement of their
relationship.
