Abstract
Purpose: Women with addicted spouses than other women suffer from more psychological problems. The present study was conducted with the aim of comparing the difficulty of emotion regulation, fear of social negative evaluations and tendency to suicide in women with addicted and non-addicted spouses. Materials and Methods: This study was a cross-sectional from type of causal-comparative. The research population was the spouses of addicts who referred to addiction treatment centers of Zahedan city and the spouses of non-addicts who referred to health and treatment centers of Zahedan city in 2015 year. Number of 60 spouses of addicts were selected as samples by simple random sampling method and number of 60 spouses of non-addicts were selected as samples by available sampling method. The research tools were included the difficulty of emotion regulation scale (Gratz and Roemer, 2004), fear of negative evaluation scale (Leary, 1983) and tendency to suicide questionnaire (Beck, 1961). Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of variance in SPSS-16 software. Findings: The findings showed that there was a significant difference between women with addicted and non-addicted spouses in terms of all three variables of difficulty of emotion regulation, fear of social negative evaluations and tendency to suicide and all their subscales. In the other words, the average scores of women with addicted spouses in compared to women with non-addicted spouses significantly worse in all three mentioned variables and all their subscales (P<0.05). Conclusion: According to the results of this study, planning it seems necessary to improve family health by drug withdrawal in addicts.
