Islam's Point of View on Difficult Conditions Such as the Covid-19 Pandemic: A Qualitative Study

Abstract
Purpose: Facing with difficult conditions such as corona 
pandemic has several complications. One of the ways to 
overcome this crisis is to seek help from religious beliefs. 
Therefore, in the present study, by reviewing religious 
sources, Islamic views and instructions to overcome these 
conditions were extracted.
Materials and Methods: The present study is a qualitative 
content analysis performed by Granheim and Landman 
method. For this purpose, the Qur'an and the hadiths have been 
used to extract the views of Islam.
Findings: Based on the initial analysis, the results obtained 
from the analysis of verses and hadiths were divided into two 
categories: individual and interpersonal. 11 subcategory and 
73 codes formed the individual class and 6 subcategory and 30 
codes formed the interpersonal category. After analyzing the 
verses and hadiths, a set of Islamic teachings were emerged, 
some of them are dedicated to difficult situations and some of 
which are general advices that help a Muslim in difficult 
situations and cause him to experience more peace of mind and 
inner calm.
Conclusion: The teachings of Islam will help Muslims to 
overcome difficult circumstances such as the Corona 
epidemic. The Muslim person overcomes these conditions 
better by using teachings such as prayer, remembering God, 
patience, submission to the will of God and satisfaction with 
it, and with advice such as generosity, paying attention to 
orphans, and caring for patients and people in distress, help 
other people in the community to better cope with these 
conditions in solidarity.
