Sociological Explanation of Resistance in Accepting New Lifestyle and Official Norms of Iranian Society (Case Study: Students of Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran Branch in 2020-2021)

Abstract
Purpose: The present study was done to sociologically investigate 
resistance against formal norms of Iranian society in the students of 
Islamic Azad University of Tehran.
Materials and Methods: The study was applied in terms of 
objectives and its design was descriptive. Statistical society of the 
research was all the students of Central Branch of Islamic Azad 
University of Tehran from whom 373 people were selected as the 
sample. They answered researcher – made questionnaires in the 
systematic random sampling method. Those questionnaires included 
77 items. Raw data obtained from the questionnaires was analyzed 
through SPSS 26 software and statistical tests of Linear Regression 
and Pearson Correlation. 
Findings: The results of Linear Regression analysis showed that 
variables of personality crisis, positive thinking about cyberspace, 
inclination to searching affairs, imposed norms and outdated rules 
had a significant effect on resistance against formal norms. But 
modern lifestyle, inclination to higher education and the society’s 
suffocating atmosphere did not have any meaningful effect on it. 
Conclusion: The results of Pearson Correlation Coefficient also 
displayed that there was a reciprocal significant relationship 
between personality crisis, inclination to higher education, positive 
thinking about cyberspace, inclination to searching affairs and 
resistance against formal norms. Moreover , there was a positive 
meaningful relationship between imposed norms , the society ' s 
suffocating atmosphere , outdated rules and resistance against 
formal norms . There was not any meaningful relationship between 
modern lifestyle and resistance against formal norms.
